Why you would/would not use this book in your classroom? I would use this book in my classroom because the lesson to be had from this story is very applicable to every child. Most children will have siblings, friends, or close cousins, and I think that this story could help children relate and learn about being jealous and how to handle it.

Appropriate age group for this book: 3-7

Ideas for unit of study to include this book or how you might use this book in the classroom: An idea for a activity from this book would be a worksheet to show comprehension and also to work on writing in complete sentences. Questions could ask how Sister Bear changed from the beginning to the end and what she learned. A unit could be made from the Berenstein Bear series as a lot of these books handle real life situations that students go through, so including these stories in a comprehension unit or character trait learning series would be really good.
